Mr. Jeff Bainbridge has been named November's Teacher of the Month for Sycamore High School.
North Elementary School was one of 10 schools in Illinois to receive a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health that will be used to help fight childhood obesity.
Mr. Jim Heintz, Miss Katie Busch, and Mrs. Jenn McCormick did a presentation on meeting the needs of the visual learner at the Illinois Technology and Education Conference in Springfield.
Emma Majerus has been chosen as this year's Daughters of the American Revolution award winner. The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.
Heather Ray, a representaive from Operation Migration, was a guest in Mrs. Cambier's third grade classroom at West. Students had been tracking the Whooping Crane's migration through the internet and the students were able to learn more from an expert.
Kylei Carlson (1st grade) and Merri Bork (4th grade) had their artwork chosen to be a part of a poster for Youth Art Month through the Illinois Art Association. Kylei and Merri are students at Southeast Elementary School.
Mrs. Debra Rich, kindergarten teacher at South Prairie Elementary was chosen as Wal-Mart's local teacher of the year (link to Daily Chronicle story).
The Sycamore High School Boys Cross Country Team finished 5th at IHSA State Finals.
The Sycamore High School Girls Cross Country Team finished 14th at IHSA State Finals.
Recipients of the District's Little Red Schoolhouse Awards for November were Sue Liebhaber, Sue Metcalf, Marty Swartz, and Diane Stolarski.
The Sycamore High School Boys Cross Country Team placed second at the Belvidere Sectional and advanced to the IHSA State Finals in Peoria on November 8, 2008.
The Sycamore High School Girls Cross Country Team also advanced to the IHSA State Finals in Peoria on November 8, 2008.
The Sycamore Middle School celebrated the Month of the Young Adolescent and collected 800 food items to be donated to the Sycamore Food Pantry.
Sycamore High School Student Veronica Behrens advanced to the IHSA State Tennis Finals.
The Sycamore Boys Cross Country team won the Aurora Central Catholic Regional and advanced to the Belvidere Sectional.
The Sycamore Girls Cross Country team also advanced to the Belvidere Sectional.
The Sycamore Middle School 7th grade football team won the Conference Championship.
The Sycamore Middle School 8th grade volleyball team won the won the Conference Championship for the second year in a row.

The Sycamore High School marching band won the Class A first place trophy at the Wheaton Marching Band Festival.
Taylor McAdams and Zach Teague qualified for the 2008 IHSA State Golf Finals.
Mark Stice qualified for the State Middle School Cross Country Tournament.
The Sycamore High School FFA Soil Judging Team took first place out of 23 teams. Individually, Kaylee Williams received 1st place and Michelle Stevens finished 2nd out of 97 participants.
Mrs. Barb White was selected as Sycamore High School Teacher of the Month.
