Parents As Teachers in Sycamore is a free and voluntary early-learning program for parents with children ages birth to five.

Parent's are their child's first and most influential teacher. Parents as Teachers can help lay a strong foundation for a child's future success in school.

The following services are available to PATS participants:

  • Personalized home visits by a certified parent educator, specially trained in
child development and eager to help parents give their child a great start.
Information - even before the baby is born - on what to look for as the child
    develops, constructive play and more.
  • A Drop In Center for Families at Sycamore Library, where parents can share
parenting experiences, gain new insights and talk about topics that interest them.
  • Periodic screening to ensure that each child has no undetected learning, sensory
(hearing and vision) or developmental problems.
  • A network of resources that can help parents with special services they may
want that are beyond the scope of PATS.
