Sycamore Community School District 427 was recently awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). ASBO International COE recognizes school districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability. The District earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended 2017.
“The COE’s mission is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting, specifically through a district’s CAFR,” ASBO International Executive Director John Musso says. “The CAFR informs parents and other stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.”
This is the District’s fifteenth consecutive year of receiving this distinction. “This award was given because of the hard work and dedication of the entire Business Office staff, in keeping detailed and transparent records of the District’s finances,” Chief Financial Officer and Chief School Business Official, Nicole Stuckert, stated.
By participating in the COE program, the District demonstrates their commitment to financial transparency. To be awarded this honor, the District submitted their CAFR for review by a team of professional auditors, who provide feedback to improve future documents. Upon completion of the review, the District’s CAFR met the requirements of the program and was awarded the Certificate of Excellence.
