The start of the 2016-2017 school year has been wonderful. It is always amazing to see how our new kindergarten students adapt to the school day so quickly. A few of my favorite moments of the school year thus far have been centered on leadership moments exhibited by our older students. They have embraced the expectation that it is their job to care for our younger students. This leadership will serve us well moving forward.
Over the summer the North Grove staff worked hard at defining our goals for the year. We actually did more than that as we developed a five year vision and goal document to help guide our work. We looked five years into the future and developed a vision of where we wanted to be at that time. We then worked backwards developing goals and activities for each year under the categories of: engagement, technology, student achievement, and collaboration (Professional Learning Committee). Over the course of the year we will be sharing the details of this plan. We hope that you can see where we are at as a learning community and where we are going.
We are currently in the process of collecting our first round of assessment data on all students. Our grade level teams will meet in September to analyze each student’s data set. During this time we look for differentiation needs within each classroom and grade level. This process of data review is essential to our success. Over the years our process of examining the data has become more focused and efficient. We will contact the family of any student who will be receiving intervention services.
Finally, we are excited to offer an adjustment to our EarlyAct club for the 2016-2017 school year. This year all 5th grade students who are interested in participating in EarlyAct can! Our first meeting of the month will continue to be our planning meeting with just officers and reps. However, our working meeting which is the second meeting of the month will be open to all 5thgraders. We are hopeful that this adjustment will allow all 5th graders the opportunity to experience EarlyAct before they leave North Grove.
Let me know if you need anything!
