December is a very busy time in many households and it is also a very busy time for us here at North Grove. “Young Authors” begins and we are preparing for the end of second quarter. Please encourage your child(ren) to participate in “Young Authors”. All students who turn in a story will receive an award during our end of the year awards ceremony.
North Grove has grown in many ways over the past six years, but our growth in the area of developing a Professional Learning Community (PLC) maybe the most impressive. Our staff has devoted themselves to the collaborative process. They use common plan time along with any extra time they have to focus on student learning. During this time they are focusing on the following four questions:
-What do we want students to know?
-How will we know when they know it?
-What will we do if they don’t know it?
-What will we do if they already know it?
This work is very time consuming but extremely valuable. Through this collaborative effort we will improve our instruction in the classroom and our response to students’ individual needs. Please know that everyone at North Grove will continue to do this very important work as we prepare the students for their future.
