7th Grade Technology - Ms. Brady

All About Me:  PowerPoint

This project focuses on basic PowerPoint skills.  This project allows the students to tell about their life, while using several skills in PowerPoint.  It also gives the teacher a glimpse of what the students already know how to do.  This helps in assessing the class as a whole to see where they are at in terms of technology skills.

Design an Island:  PowerPoint

Using PowerPoint, the students will utilize their skills in the areas of  geography, math, culture, technology, and creativity.  The students will learn how to convert inches into miles based on a given scale.  They will take these calculations and create an island using their calculations.  They will also research a culture and base this island on their chosen culture.  The students will also have the opportunity to enhance their island with their own “personal touches”.  They will use many of the tools in PowerPoint to accomplish this.

Auto Shape Creature:  Word

While completing this project, the students will learn about graphic design.  Students will construct a creature out of AutoShapes in Microsoft Word.  They will be challenged to use only one specific shape in the design. The use of gradients, textures, and patterns will be used to make their creatures look three dimensional.  A short description of their creature will compliment their AutoShape.  This writing piece will require them to describe where the creature lives, what it feels like, the demeanor of the creature, and a super power that the creature possesses.

Constitutional Jeopardy:  Inspiration and PowerPoint

The students will begin by using Inspiration to create a KWL graphic organizer.  This will allow them to express what they know, what they want to know, and what they learned about the Constitution.  They will also use hyperlinks within PowerPoint to create a Jeopardy game board that centers on the Constitution.  They can then use this as a study guide for their Constitution tests.
