Stock Market Game

Students will utilize an on-line stock market game to explore economics. Given $100,000, students are asked to watch market trends and react. Through an initiative from the Chicago Tribune, students will be asked to compete with other schools in the northern Illinois area.

Vacation Planning

Using $2,000, it is time to plan a week’s vacation including transportation, hotels, and activities. Students must use travel planning websites to diagram all aspects of the trip.

Website Development

Taking the best aspects of their favorite websites, students develop their own website to publish on the web. Hyperlinks will make connections between their personal lives and how they use technology. Students make great strides in further applying design skills learned in seventh grade.

Career Planning

After creating their own survey and exploring how to develop valid questions, interpret results, and synthesize all information, students use technology to choose a career based on exploratory surveys. They research all aspects of the career and use Excel to diagram income and expenditures.
