Cookies 'n Cram

An initiative was started this year to provide students with additional supports to prepare them for finals.

With help from staff and upper classmen, SHS’s 1st Annual Cookies’n Cram was started.  On Monday, December 14th and Tuesday, December 15th, from 3:15-5:00 pm in our cafeteria, students were given the opportunity to study in groups and ask staff and upper classmen for assistance, all while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies.

The turn out was overwhelming with approximately 250 students taking advantage of this opportunity each day.  We are sure that this will correlate to greater understanding of material, building relationships and ultimately higher grades for students. Video

Rotary Student of the Month

Each month the Sycamore Rotary Club chooses a “Student of the Month.”  This is an honor worthy of celebration.  A great deal of perseverance and commitment is necessary to earn this level of recognition.  These students have exhibited excellence in one or more areas of the district’s “Strategic Design Plan,” specifically in the section titled “Core Values.”  The Core Values represent the foundation of ethical and moral behavior, which we expect our students to model throughout their lives.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the following students on having been selected as a Rotary “Student of the Month.”

September:      Ian Kates & Kristian Kates
October:          Nicole O’Connor
November:      Jordan Mottet
December:       Greg Forsyth

Faculty Member of the Month

Each month faculty members are nominated by students for Faculty member of the Month. The nominations are then voted on anonymously by the Department Chairs (based on what the students wrote about the faculty member). These members have had a positive impact on the education of our students and should be congratulated for their hard work!
