Educational Relevancy Tour Continued Cooperation …

In September of 2009, Sycamore High School participated in an Educational Relevancy Tour with 21 businesses in the Sycamore area. The goal was to engage in a conversation with these businesses to determine if the curriculum that is taught in high school is relevant to student success in the real world. SHS wants to develop a relationship with these businesses (and others) in order to assist teachers in preparing students better for their future.

To follow up and continue the dialogue, Sycamore High School recently held a Faculty Meeting/Business Breakfast with some of the 21 cooperating businesses. Several business leaders were able to visit classrooms to see the educational system from the teacher’s view, have discussions with the teachers and continue to form a vision for future partnerships with Sycamore High School and the business community.

The following is a list of the businesses that have participated in this new venture:

American National Bank Auto Meter Blackhawk Moving
Blumen Gardens Brian Bemis Auto World Castle Bank
City of Sycamore Driv-Loc, Inc. Ideal Industries
Inlaid Woodcraft National Bank & Trust Northern Illinois University
Oak Crest OC ImageWorks School Tool Box
Sycamore Containers Sycamore Glass TBC
