Welcome to the Sycamore High School Social Studies Department!

Thomas Jefferson emphasized that the vitality of a democracy depends upon the education and participation of its citizens. Because our democracy is constantly evolving, it is in continuous need of citizens whom can adapt to its enduring traditions and values. Meeting that need is the mission of the Sycamore High School Social Studies Department. After taking the required amount of social studies classes, our students will develop a core of basic knowledge and an ability to think in a critical manner. The ultimate goal of the Sycamore High School Social Studies Department is to produce well-informed citizens whom will be motivated to participate in civic and community life as active, informed citizens.
