Charting a New Course 2009-10

Welcome to a new school year at South Prairie Elementary School!  We are “charting a new course” to EMPOWER ALL LEARNERS TO SUCCEED IN THEIR WORLD!  With the transition to new schools after the redistricting initiative, we are focusing on offering our families, students, and staff a warm, cozy, welcoming experience at South Prairie. 

….”We need to give our children the anchors of love and trust, the rudder of hope, the sails of health and education, and the paddles of family, school, and community to keep them safe and strong when life’s seas get rough.”   As Marian Wright Edelman stated in “The Sea is So Wide and My Boat is So Small”, her letters to our children and to our leaders challenge us to give our children a better life and how to model this as we chart a new course for the next generation. 

We welcome back our returning families, students, and staff and extend a hearty hello to our new families and students as well!  A fresh start or a new path – the staff at South Prairie wants to offer these opportunities, an engaging education, and a safe and warm place to learn.

The District Communicator has been replaced by our school messenger application which will send email along

with emergency phone messages. Any parent who has signed up for the Parent Portal will be

automatically entered into the email portion of the system.
