February will become an unpleasant memory as we turn the calendar to March and knowing that spring is right around the corner I can deal with one last snowstorm or blast of cold. In March, I look forward to fun things like St. Patrick’s Day, March Madness and Daylight Savings Time.
March is also very busy at Southeast. The third-fifth grade students will be participating in PARCC testing. Primary classrooms will celebrate Dr. Seuss week, and fourth and fifth grades will show off bowling skills learned in P.E. The fifth grade class will celebrate their final year at Southeast with their field trip to Springfield the same week we greet the incoming class of 2029 as they register for Kindergarten. As the month closes out well will enjoy spring break.
We will celebrate Spring when we return to school on April 4; spring sing and spring book fair are just two of the events to look forward to in April.
The March core value is loyalty. Lessons will reinforce the importance of being loyal to self, school and community.
In April we will explore the meaning of Trustworthiness and the importance of keeping promises.
While we are “springing forward” and gearing up to all the activities that the season brings, along with continuing to support reading and practicing math facts, I also urge you to slow down and take pleasure in the beauty of the season.
