Every week is busy at Southeast but the final weeks are especially hectic. They filled with final assessments and projects, field trips, field day and other end of the year activities. Many of the events we enjoy would not be possible without the support of the PTO. I’d like to offer gratitude and thanks to them for all the opportunities they’ve provided for our students. Thank you for classroom parties, fun fair, book fairs, young author night, theater trips, classroom supplies, the 5th grade Springfield trip, sponsoring a large portion of the cost of grade level field trips, meals and snacks during conferences and teacher appreciation week. The list goes on and on. Also, special thanks to all the parents who volunteer throughout the year. Your support is greatly appreciated by both staff and stu- dents.
Cooperation is the core value for May. The Sycamore School District 427 strategic design plan defines cooperation as: “Cooperating people actively participate with others in sharing information and ideas toward a common goal.” Field day is the perfect way to demonstrate this core value.
As a reminder please have your child continue to read and practice math facts all summer. This routine will keep students from “sliding” from current levels. See page 5 of the newsletter for some ideas to get through the summer.
Again, I thank you for a great 2015-16 school year and wish you and your family a fun and safe summer.
