Goals
- To increase the membership of the Southeast P.T.O. through new ideas, better communication, and a commitment to work as a team.
- To wisely invest our fundraising profits in a timely manner towards enhancing further development of our children's self-esteem, imagination, and creativity.
- To provide programs that will enhance our children's classroom experience and encourage school spirit and pride.
- To provide a welcoming atmosphere that encourages parents, teachers, staff, and administrators from our school community to meet one another and develop relationships.

PTO Meeting Minutes
PRESENT: Mark Ekstrom, Earl Gable, Nancy Benson, Jen O’Sullivan, Tracy Oczkowski, Leanna Menzer, Nancy Davis, Andrea Sebby, Rhonda Cowan
WELCOME: Nancy Benson offered thanks to Earl Gable for his years of service.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: No Report
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Jen O’Sullivan reported. Minutes were not posted to the website. Hard copies provided. Rhonda Cowan Approved. Andrea Sebby Second.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Mark Ekstrom reported for John McBride. Balance as of 4/22/10: $11,521. Tracy O. passed. Rhonda Cowan Second.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Mark Ekstrom discussed the following:
Tickets for Cougars Game Night going home in Friday Folders (4/30)
3rd Graders finished Splash Unit at the YMCA on 4/27/10
Upcoming Field Trips for 2nd grade (Blackberry Farm) and 3rd grade (Planetarium)
Mail-in Registration to be implemented for the upcoming schoolyear. Registration packets will be sent home the end of May. Online payments or checks accepted. Free/Reduced Fee forms can be found online.
Walk-in Registration will be at the Field House.
School Tool Boxes will be available at walk-in registration, or at home school 2 days after registration or at the back to school Icecream Social.
The path connecting Reston Ponds to the school grounds is open for use.
Thank you extended to Earl Gable for his years of active participation.

OLD BUSINESS:
Book Fair: Rhonda Cowan reported. Rachel Vidales did an excellent job organizing volunteers. Krista Kates did an excellent job decorating for the diner theme. Profits were down. 1-for-Books being donated to Bookworm Angels where books are given to lower-income schools and into homes
NEW BUSINESS:
Box Tops: Rhonda Cowan Reported
Box Tops: Received $1400.00 check ($1000 from sweepstakes)
Received a thank you letter from Ronald McDonald house
Swiss Valley milk caps-$100 to be received
Campbells Labels-39,801 points
Nestle: Mark was able to use the gift certificates received at Target
Coke Rewards: 5000 points
Tyson labels and Kemps milk caps will be saved for next year
Discussed a manila envelope idea to be given to each student with an outline of the incentive programs we collect for. Envelopes would be sent in, contents sorted at school, and envelope returned home for further collecting.
PTO attendees agreed to continue with voting based on attendance and allowing Earl to vote being his term as PTO President was passed onto Nancy at the beginning of the meeting.
Fall Fundraiser:
Tracy O. made a motion to go forward with plans for a walk/read-a-thon in the fall based on findings from further research within the district regarding the success of similar fundraisers.

PTO Meeting Nights 2010/2011 School Year:
Rhonda Cowan made a motion to alternate meeting dates the first Monday or Tuesday of each month, omitting a December and May meeting.

Seeking volunteers for the day of Fay’s pork chop dinner

In celebration of the Tool Boxes 10th anniversary, they will be $1.00 off

Deciding between a bike rack, trees, or collapsible benches for the courtyard patio

Nancy Davis is sending out a letter for volunteers the day of. Looking for 40 people.
Elections:
By-laws to be revised prior to Fall 2010. Election for Vice President (1-year term) to be held at the first meeting of the 2010/2011 schoolyear.
