Welcome!
Welcome to West Elementary School! My name is Brad Barnhardt, and I am privileged to be the principal of West Elementary in the fall. I have been in the district for the past 10 years, starting as a second grade teacher and more recently, the dean of students at Sycamore High School. We are very excited to begin another school year and continue the wonderful traditions that make West Elementary School special.
West Elementary has an enrollment of roughly 300 students and has an exceptional team of 45 staff members. While working closely with our parents and community we have created one common goal: “Empowering All Learners to Succeed in Their World.” In doing so, we will provide ALL students with numerous educational opportunities in and out of the classroom. For students to be successful we must meet them at their level, know their learning style and focus on their strengths! It is our belief that all students should have quality instructions and experiences to ensure continuous achievement for each student.
Parents are a child’s first and foremost teacher. It is imperative that educators and parents work together to provide the best educational opportunities for students. Working together with our community will help students reach their highest potential. The West School Organization has a very dedicated and active parent base, and I look forward to working together with them as we dedicate our efforts toward the students’ experiences and opportunities. For the past several years, the WSO has been able to add to academic opportunities for all students while supporting teachers in the classroom. There is a direct connection between the achievement of students of West Elementary and the strong educational supports of the WSO!
The purpose of our website is to increase home, school and community communication, provide information about current and future events, links to the West School staff, District 427 sites, and other resources.
Our goal is to provide a great overall academic and social/emotional learning experience for your child at West Elementary! It’s an honor to be a part of the West school family!
