New Staff Spotlight – Cole Hefler

Sycamore Community School District 427 is excited to welcome alum, Cole Hefler, to the family! Cole graduated in 2013 and went on to attend University in Wisconsin-Whitewater and eventually transferred to Northern Illinois University. He graduated from NIU with his degree in special education in 2017. Cole would describe himself as motivated, as well as patient. Both of these traits show in the fact that he enjoys coaching and playing sports. He is looking forward to football season this year- and every year!

One of Cole’s most memorable stories from when he was a student is when he cheated on a test in fourth grade. His teacher at the time, Mrs. Holder, commended him for his honesty rather than punish him for cheating. He still holds honesty as one of the most important qualities a person can have. Cole can’t wait to meet the new students and learn about their interests as the year goes on. His biggest hope for the children of the community is that each student is able to find something they’re passionate about and be able to pursue that passion! Cole has lived in Sycamore for quite a while and his favorite part about the community is the strong sense of pride. He feels that people are always excited to tell you that they’re from Sycamore. If you see Cole around Sycamore Middle School, make sure to give him a warm welcome!
