- Message from the Superintendent
Dear Sycamore Community School District 427 community,
As we approach the November election, we want to ensure you have all the information you need about the DeKalb County School Facility Tax, also known as the Penny Sales Tax, which will appear on the ballot. To help explain this important referendum, superintendents from school districts across DeKalb County have come together to create a video highlighting the potential impact this funding source would have on all of our schools if passed.
The Penny Sales Tax is projected to generate $10.5 million annually for school districts in DeKalb County, including approximately $2.5 million for Sycamore CUSD 427. These funds will help us address facility improvements, such as short and long-term planning for Sycamore High School, and reduce our reliance on property taxes.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch this informative video and learn more about how this potential funding could benefit our district, as well as other schools throughout DeKalb County. You can view the video here.
In addition to the video, we want to remind you that we have a dedicated page on our website with valuable information about the Penny Sales Tax. Please view this page on our website for more details. Your vote on Tuesday, November 5 is important, and we encourage all members of our community to be informed before voting.
