Countryman Named North Grove Principal
The Sycamore Community School District 427 is pleased to announce Jake Countryman has been selected as the Principal of North Grove Elementary School for the next school year. He was chosen from a talented candidate pool in a competitive process that included input and participation from North Grove staff. Mr. Countryman replaces Ryan Janisch, who was recently named Assistant Superintendent of Sandwich School District 430. He will officially start as principal on July 1.

“I’m extremely excited to become an educational leader in the Sycamore School District. This district holds a special place in my heart as it helped form my roots in education,” said Jake Countryman. “My children both attended North Grove, and I look forward to continuing to grow the wonderful educational environment that Mr. Janisch has created in the building.”

For the past thirteen years, Mr. Countryman has worked for Kaneland Community School District 302. He currently serves as Principal of McDole Elementary. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Principal. Mr. Countryman was also a Math RTI Coach and Interventionist, as well as a teacher at John Shields Elementary for eight years. He brings an excellent reputation as a skilled instructor to the principalship. Mr. Countryman is no stranger to the Sycamore Community School District, as he has served as the Assistant Football Coach for Sycamore High School since 2005. He is a Sycamore alumnus from the class of 2001.

"Like many of our staff, Mr. Countryman is a product of Sycamore schools. That gives him both a unique experience and a vested interest in our continued success. He has distinguished himself as an educator who is student-centered and who understands what the future holds for education,” said Steve Wilder, Superintendent of Schools. “His experience as a coach will be an asset not only to our students but also to our staff. We believe that his humble demeanor and passion for excellence will be a great asset to North Grove Elementary School, our district, and our community.”

Mr. Countryman lives in Sycamore with his wife, Kari, who is also a teacher in the district. They have two children, Tristan and Callie, who currently attend Sycamore Schools. He loves coaching and cheering on his kids in the many different sports that they play. In Mr. Countryman’s free time, you might see him biking on country roads around town or enjoying a meal in downtown Sycamore with his family.

Please join Sycamore Community School District 427 in congratulating Mr. Countryman upon his selection as the next Principal at North Grove Elementary School.
