Leadership Structure Enhancements for the 2026-27 School Year

Sycamore Community School District 427 is announcing several enhancements to its leadership structure for the 2026-27 school year, designed to strengthen support systems for students, staff, and schools and to align district leadership with long-term strategic priorities. These updates reflect the district’s continued commitment to providing high-quality educational experiences, operational excellence, and strong student support services across all grade levels.

As previously shared, the district has also restructured instructional leadership responsibilities by redistributing the former Director of Instructional Technology and Director of Learning & Teaching roles into two dedicated positions: Director of Learning & Teaching (K-5) and Director of Learning & Teaching (6-12). This adjustment is intended to provide more targeted instructional support across grade spans while creating stronger alignment between curriculum, professional learning, instructional coaching, and district priorities.

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, the district will include the following leadership positions:

  • Chief Academic Officer (CAO) - Overseeing curriculum, instruction, and student learning across the district
  • Chief Operating Officer (COO) - Providing strategic leadership across the district’s financial and operational systems
  • Special Education Administrator - Transitioning the current Special Education Coordinator/Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) position into a district administrator role to strengthen coordination, compliance, and student support services.
  • Assistant Principals at North Grove Elementary and West Elementary - Expanding building-level leadership to provide additional instructional support, student support, and school climate leadership at the elementary level.

“These leadership enhancements are designed to strengthen alignment across our district while ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our students, staff, and families,” said Dr. Kristen Campbell, Superintendent of Sycamore Community School District 427. “These roles will help us provide strong systems of support that positively impact teaching, learning, and daily operations.”

Positions are currently posted on the district website, and the district will continue to provide updates throughout the hiring and transition process.
