Portrait of a Spartan: Problem-Solvers

Portrait of a Spartan: Problem-Solvers

Dear Sycamore Community School District 427 students, families, staff, and community,

We are excited to share the first video of our Portrait of a Spartan monthly disposition series! This year, we will showcase the eight dispositions that help shape our students into Spartans, starting with Problem-Solvers for September.

Being a problem-solver means evaluating information, utilizing available resources, identifying potential strategies, and independently taking steps toward solving problems. In this month’s video, we check in with Jill Henson, Kindergarten Teacher at Southeast Elementary School. As the first week of kindergarten was in full swing during our visit, there was a lot of focus on how problem-solving begins at this foundational level. Ms. Henson also highlights the importance of fostering these dispositions early and building on them through elementary, middle school, and high school.

We hope you enjoy seeing how problem-solving skills are cultivated in our youngest Spartans and continue to develop as they progress through their educational journey. Be sure to watch the video all the way to the end—you won’t want to miss it!
