Portrait of a Spartan Video Series Debut

Dear Sycamore Community School District 427 students, families, staff, and community,

As part of our ongoing commitment to preparing future-ready leaders, we are proud to announce the launch of our Portrait of a Spartan monthly video series. This series will shine a spotlight on the eight dispositions that define the skills and attributes we want all Sycamore High School graduates to embody when they leave our halls.

The Portrait of a Spartan is more than just a framework—it is a guiding vision that goes beyond academic achievement, focusing on developing the characteristics and leadership qualities our students need to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through thoughtful collaboration with students, families, educators, and community members, we have identified eight dispositions that will guide our students' growth from preschool through high school. 

To bring these dispositions to life, we have created this monthly video series, with each month focusing on a specific disposition. Our schools will also feature morning announcements and facilitate guided conversations and discussions throughout the month to engage students meaningfully.

We invite our families and community partners to join us on this journey. We hope that these traits become a part of the conversations at home and throughout our community. Together, we will work to ensure that the Portrait of a Spartan becomes an integral part of the Sycamore experience.
