Sycamore 427 Board of Education Names Mr. Nick Reineck as Interim Superintendent

The Sycamore Community School District 427 Board of Education has appointed Mr. Nick Reineck as Interim Superintendent, effective following the Tuesday, August 26, 2025 Board of Education meeting.

Mr. Reineck has been serving as Acting Superintendent since August 1, 2025, and will now guide our district through this transitional phase as the Board searches for a new Superintendent. He will continue to serve in this role until the position is permanently filled on or before July 1, 2026.

"It is an honor to serve the Sycamore community in this role. Sycamore has been my professional home for more than a decade, and it is also where my family and I live and where our children attend school,” said Mr. Reineck. “That gives me both a personal and professional commitment to serving our students, staff, and families. We have an incredible community, and I look forward to working together to ensure stability during this transition while continuing to empower all learners to succeed in their world." 

Mr. Reineck brings extensive experience and strong leadership to his new role. Since July 2020, he has served as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Educational Programs, a position he will continue to hold while serving as Interim Superintendent. He began his career in Sycamore Community School District 427 in 2014 as Dean of Students at Sycamore High School before being promoted to Assistant Principal.

Over the years, Mr. Reineck has taken on a variety of leadership roles, including serving as the district’s Safety and Security Lead, Senate Bill 100 District Trainer, and Restorative Justice District-wide Presenter/Trainer. His dedication was recognized in 2020 when he received the DeKalb County Excellence in Education Award in the Administration category.

Mr. Reineck earned an Ed.S. in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education: Social Science from Knox College.

“Mr. Reineck's decade of leadership here in Sycamore provides stability and valuable district-specific insight,” said Mr. Michael DeVito, Board of Education President. “The Board is confident in his leadership during this interim period as we conduct a thorough process to place our next permanent Superintendent.”
