Sycamore Community School District 427 is pleased to announce the appointment of two new elementary assistant principals for the 2026-27 school year. Mr. Marc Gorecki will serve as Assistant Principal of North Grove Elementary School, and Ms. Calla Stroh will serve as Assistant Principal of West Elementary School. Both will begin their new roles on July 1, 2026.

Mr. Marc Gorecki - Assistant Principal, North Grove Elementary School

Mr. Gorecki brings 20 years of experience in Sycamore Community School District 427 to his new leadership role. He has served as a special education teacher in the district's Academic and Behavior Learning Environment (ABLE) program since joining the district and was among the staff members who transitioned from North Elementary School to North Grove when the building opened.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gorecki has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting students and staff. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he has served as the district's Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) trainer, elementary special education team lead, and an OSCAR site director for the past 18 years.

"We are excited to welcome Marc Gorecki to his new role as Assistant Principal,” said Mr. Jake Countryman, North Grove Elementary Principal. “Mr. Gorecki brings valuable leadership experience, along with a strong background supporting students. His expertise, student-centered approach, and commitment to meeting the diverse needs of learners will be tremendous assets as we continue our work to empower and grow all students. We look forward to the perspective, leadership, and support he will bring to our elementary administrative team and school community."

"Teaching special education has been a passion of mine for the past twenty years," said Mr. Gorecki. "The decision to take my teaching career in a different path has been one of the hardest decisions, but ultimately one I am very excited to embark on. My goal and hope is to continue to help foster a learning environment in which all students and staff can come to school feeling enriched and supported while reaching their full potential. I am excited to continue helping the students and staff of North Grove and all of Sycamore School District become empowered in their world."

Ms. Calla Stroh - Assistant Principal, West Elementary School

Ms. Stroh joins Sycamore Community School District 427 with more than 15 years of experience in education and educational leadership. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at the Kishwaukee Education Consortium (KEC), where she collaborates with staff to support diverse student learning needs, promotes a positive school culture, oversees student discipline and safety, and provides instructional leadership through teacher observation and coaching.

Prior to her role at KEC, Ms. Stroh spent 14 years at Steward Elementary School, serving as a middle school teacher and lead teacher. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and educational excellence, serving on multiple state-level assessment committees, contributing to curriculum development efforts, and earning recognition as a Golden Apple nominee.

"We are excited to welcome Calla Stroh to our school community,” said Ms. Emily Waller, West Elementary Principal. “Her experiences as both an elementary teacher and assistant principal have provided her with a strong foundation for supporting students and staff. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a commitment to building meaningful relationships and helping children reach their full potential. We look forward to partnering with her as we continue to create a positive, engaging, and student-focused environment for our entire school community."

"I am honored and grateful to join the Sycamore community," said Ms. Stroh. "Supporting teachers, building relationships, and helping students thrive have always been at the heart of my work. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, families, and the community."

The creation of assistant principal positions at North Grove and West Elementary is part of the district's ongoing commitment to strengthening instructional leadership and supporting the specialized programs housed within each building. These leadership additions will further support students, staff, and families while advancing the district's mission to empower all learners to succeed in a changing world.

“We are so excited to welcome both of these leaders to our district,” said Dr. Kristen Campbell, Superintendent. “Both Ms. Stroh and Mr. Gorecki bring a wealth of experience to the district, and we are excited for them to join our district for this coming school year!”

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Gorecki and Ms. Stroh.
