Sycamore Community School District 427 is pleased to announce that Dr. Phoebe Balentyne has been approved as the Director of Learning & Teaching (6-12) by the Board of Education. She will officially begin her new role on July 1, 2026.

Dr. Balentyne brings nearly 20 years of experience in education and has served Sycamore Community School District 427 since 2007. She has most recently held the position of Director of Instructional Technology, where she led strategic initiatives to enhance teaching and learning through innovative technology integration and professional development.

“It is an immense privilege to step into this new role. I am deeply committed to Sycamore and excited to continue supporting our staff and learners within our wonderful community,” said Dr. Phoebe Balentyne.

Prior to her district leadership role, Dr. Balentyne was a mathematics teacher at Sycamore High School and later served as the 9-12 Instructional Coach. Her deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and student learning, combined with her expertise in instructional technology, positions her to effectively support staff and students across grades 6-12.

Dr. Balentyne holds a Doctor of Education in School Improvement from the University of West Georgia, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from American College of Education, and both a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Northern Illinois University.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Balentyne transition into the role of Director of Learning and Teaching (6-12). Her leadership, deep understanding of secondary education, and expertise in technology-enhanced pedagogy make her an ideal fit for this position,” said Dr. Kristen Campbell, Superintendent.

This position is part of a broader organizational structure that will include dedicated Directors of Learning & Teaching for both grades K-5 and 6-12, designed to enhance focus and support across grade levels. Responsibilities previously aligned to the Director of Instructional Technology role will be integrated within this structure.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Phoebe Balentyne on her new role within our district.
