Sycamore CUSD 427 Appoints Rob Stover as Head Football Coach at Sycamore High School

The Sycamore Community Unit School District 427 Board of Education and District Administration are pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Stover as the 19th Head Football Coach at Sycamore High School.

Mr. Stover has served as an Assistant Coach with the Sycamore High School football program for eleven seasons and has held the role of Co-Defensive Coordinator for the last seven years. Prior to joining Sycamore, he served as Defensive Coordinator at Central High School and as an Assistant Coach at Unity High School. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Mr. Stover is a Physical Education teacher at Southeast Elementary School and serves as a co-advisor for Sycamore High School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Mr. Stover is a graduate of Central High School in Burlington, Illinois, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and holds a master’s degree in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University.

“Coach Stover has been an excellent coach for us and is a great fit to for our next Head Football coach at Sycamore High School. His attention to detail and leaving no stone unturned has allowed him to be successful,” said Chauncey Carrick, Athletic Director at Sycamore HIgh School. “He has been fully committed to our players and community and will continue to be all in on the Spartans. He is involved in many of our youth organizations, including SYFL. Rob understand that Sycamore Football is a community entity and is ready for the challenge.”

Mr. Stover and his wife, Katie, reside in Sycamore with their children, Tommy, Louie, Jocko, and Shane. The Stover family are members of the Sycamore United Methodist Church.

“I am extremely honored and excited to accept the Head Football Coaching position for the Spartans. This opportunity is both humbling and deeply meaningful,” said Stover. “I am grateful for the trust placed in me and am eager to lead this program. I cannot thank Coach Ryan enough for the opportunity to grow as a coach under his tenure. I look forward to building on the strong tradition already in place here, developing young men of character and representing our school and community with pride. I am excited to get to work.”

Coach Stover will assume his duties immediately.
