This fall, Sycamore Community School District 427 received over $14,000 from The Sycamore Education Foundation. SEF is driven by its mission “to enhance and enrich educational opportunities by engaging the energy and resources of the community.” This year’s grants were awarded to the following projects:

Sycamore Middle School teachers accept their SEF Grant in the SMS library.

The Sycamore Middle School Library

The SMS Library received $10,000 for the purpose of enhancing its non-fiction collection, a need that has arisen after over 1,600 items were retired due to their condition and outdated content. Funds will be utilized to purchase replacement books, and additionally add new titles to their catalog.

SHS English Department accepts SEF Grant.

Sycamore High School’s English Department

Students in English I at SHS received funding to acquire noise-cancelling headphones with microphones. These headphones will allow students to move through the class’s curriculum at their own pace.

South Prairie Teachers Accept SEF Grant for their book room.

South Prairie Elementary Book Room

South Prairie received a grant to create a book room for their students. This room will provide engaging texts for students to get “hooked on a book.”

Southeast teachers accept SEF Grant.

Southeast Elementary Class Books

5th graders at Southeast Elementary received a grant to purchase books for the completion of class collections. This will enable all 5th grade students to participate in reading copies of the same book at the same time.

South Prairie teacher accept SEF Grant for 3D Printer.

South Prairie Elementary 3D Printer

South Prairie also received a grant to purchase 3D printing technology. This 3D printer will allow students to experiment with this technology in their STEAM space.

Thank you to all the SEF donors and SEF members for these generous gifts. We can’t wait to see the power of all these grants in action!
