Welcome Back to School 2021

  • Message from the Superintendent

Hello! It's my pleasure to welcome all of you to the 2021-2022 school year! We couldn't be any more excited to welcome everyone back tomorrow.

We all know that last year was challenging. I don't want to dwell on that, but I also don't want to forget that the challenges helped us all stretch and grow. We grew as educators as we learned new strategies and ways to teach and support students. Our students also grew as they learned from home and through the hybrid model before we transitioned back to face-to-face learning. It was hard, but I think we learned lessons that will help us thrive for years to come.

I firmly believe that we are making progress towards the end of the pandemic. But… we aren't there yet. We'll need to continue to be vigilant about proper safety protocols and looking out for each other as the school year begins. That will be true now as we start school, as well as in the future. We made it through last year by working together, and that's what will get us through this year. I know some of the guidelines we've implemented aren't popular to all, but I am asking each of you to work with us until we can consider removing any layers of mitigation.

In addition to safety protocols, there are also some remnants of the facility work that we've done to properly maintain our schools. Please excuse our dust and any materials that are still around as we wrap those projects up.

As we wind up for the school year inside our buildings, I also want to remind you that athletics and other activities are in full swing, like the Taste of Black & Gold at the high school this Friday. Please check our website, calendars, and follow us on social media to learn more about the great events we have coming up.

Our collaborative spirit and Spartan Pride is what has brought us to the first day of school tomorrow. Words simply can't describe the energy in all of our buildings as we finalize our preparations. We can't wait to see all of our students come through our doors on the first day of school for the first time in two years! We hope you are as excited as we are, and we are looking forward to continuing to partner with all of you. Enjoy your last day of summer vacation; see you all tomorrow! Thank you.
