Out of School Care (OSCAR) is a childcare program at Sycamore Community School District 427 that offers a nurturing, caring, and safe environment for kindergarten through fifth grade students before and after school. By providing fun, active, and brain-stimulating activities, OSCAR empowers our students to succeed socially and academically in school and prepares them for their futures.
Students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade in the District are eligible to participate in OSCAR. In addition to before and after school care, OSCAR offers full daycare, early dismissal care, and summer care programs.
During the school year, OSCAR meets at all five elementary schools. Students participate in a range of activities to keep them active, and breakfast and snacks are offered to ensure students are ready to learn at school. A number of community partnerships allow us to provide our students with enriching opportunities outside of the school building.
Before working with students, OSCAR staff must pass a background check, be first aid and CPR certified, and complete training to ensure the safety of our students. Each school is overseen by an OSCAR Site Director, who provides guidance and direction to the staff.
