Second Quarter Meal Options

As the District transitions to in-person instruction on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, there will be changes to our food services program for all students. Starting Monday, November 2, 2020, meals will no longer be delivered to families’ homes. However, meals will still be available for all students.

Under the current extension given to schools by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), all children under the age of 18 who reside within the District’s boundaries are eligible for free meals through the end of the school year. The way that students receive these meals will depend on the model of learning they have selected and their grade level.

HYBRID STUDENTS

Elementary School
Our elementary school schedule includes a 20 minute lunch break where students can receive meals on the days they are at school for in-person instruction. They will also have the option to receive free breakfast on these days.

For the days they are not at school, families can sign their elementary school students up to receive free additional meals to take home. These take-home packages will include meals for breakfast and lunch. “A” students will receive two meals on Mondays and three meals on Wednesdays, and “B” students will receive two meals on Tuesdays and three meals on Thursdays.

Students still have the option to bring their own lunches from home, and milk will be available to these students for free.

Sign up will be open until Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Middle School and High School
Our middle school and high school schedules do not include a lunch break for students. Students will be provided grab and go meals as they leave school for the day. They will be able to pick-up meals for the days they do attend school in-person at the same time. There is no sign-up required for middle school and high school students.

REMOTE STUDENTS

All Levels
Families who have chosen to keep their students enrolled in our remote learning model are still eligible to receive free meals for their students. Meals can be picked up from Sycamore High School on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 – 10:00 AM and 1:15 – 2:15 PM starting Monday, November 2, 2020. Families will receive three meals on Mondays and four meals on Thursdays.

All of our take-home meals will be pre-cooked and sent home cold. Each meal will need to be heated to a temperature of 165°F or higher before being consumed.
